Goals and values
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In my last newsletter, I looked at New Years's resolutions and the
secrets of successful goal setting. As I revealed, goals should be specific,
clear and positive. I hope you are having great success moving towards and
achieving your goals.
This month I am covering another important area that will help you to set
and achieve your goals. These are your 'values'. If you don't align your
goals to your values, they will be more difficult to achieve.
Values are the things that are really important to you, which lay the
foundations for your ideal life. What you value determines what life means
to you and the actions you take. When you honour your values on a regular
and consistent basis, life is great and fulfilling.
Some values have been with you since your early childhood and some may have
been acquired along the way. Other values can be discovered when you take
the time to understand what is important to you. When you know what is
important, setting goals becomes a more natural process.
What are your values?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So how can you clarify what is important to you? I suggest you carry out
the following activity.
Take 30 minutes to consider the following questions and write down the
answers.
1. Take 10 minutes to list your values - what really matters to you as a
person? How do you like to feel? What else is important to you?
2. From this list, what are your top 3 values?
3. Why is each value important to you?
4. How well are you currently honouring or expressing these values?
5. What is stopping you from living these values?
6. If you were to honour your top 3 values 100% of the time, what would be
different?
7. How do these values fit in with your goals?
Call me today to discuss your values in more detail and how they
support your goals, or to ask me any questions about life coaching. I look
forward to hearing from you.

Quote of the month
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Every experience in life, everything with which we have come in contact
in life, is a chisel which has been cutting away at our life statue, molding,
modifying, shaping it. We are part of all we have met. Everything we have
seen, heard, felt or thought has had its hand in molding us, shaping us". -
