Coping with Christmas

At
this time of year, it can be hard to fit everything into our lives.
Whether you are balancing the fun of Christmas parties, working too
hard, or think that you don't have time to do everything, let me give
you some tips to help you to cope.
1. Plan well ahead - you
may find it helps to write lists of everything that needs to be done.
2. Once you have planned,
you can then delegate to other people who can help you - it will take
the pressure off you and make them feel they are contributing to the
festivities.
3. Remember that everything
does not need to be perfect, you can only do your best.
4. Be aware of what causes
you stress and think of ways to minimise pressure at this time.
5. Plan in time for
yourself - take a walk or spend a few hours reading a book.
6. Work out your budget in
advance so you don't worry about overspending.
7. Look after your health,
drink plenty of water, don't overeat every day, and try and get enough
sleep and rest.
8. Don't forget to treat
yourself - have a massage or make time to go to the hairdressers.
9. Christmas with families
can be a difficult time. If there may be tensions, try and avoid
these situations where possible and come to a compromise where you
can.
10. Make sure you have
bought all the essentials. If you have what you need on the big day,
whether this is food or batteries, this will take some of the stress
out of the day.
