About DISC
Take a DISC profile

What is DISC Personal Profiling?

The DISC personal profile is a psychometric tool.  It consists of a series of 24 forced-choice questions, which takes approximately 7-8 minutes to complete.  You need to select one adjective most like you and one least like you per line.  The profile is based upon your perception of yourself in your work environment.

There are no right or wrong answers, and you cannot pass or fail.  Also, there are no good or bad qualities, as each person possesses strengths and limitations.

All personalities have a combination of four core personal styles:

Dominance

Influence

Steadiness

Compliance

Driving

Competitive

Self-starter

Forceful

Inquisitive

Influential

Persuasive

Friendly

Positive

Communicative

Dependable

Deliberate

Amiable

Good listener

Kind

Careful

Systematic

Precise

Logical

Accurate

The DISC profile can measure how you solve problems and respond to change, how you influence or persuade others, how you react to rules and regulations, and how you are motivated.

By completing a DISC personal profile, you will gain a greater self awareness, improve your communication skills and achieve personal success.

How was it created?

DISC personal profiling was created in 1928.  The American psychologist Dr William Marston developed a theory to explain people's emotional responses. In order to test his theories, Marston needed a way of measuring the personalities he was trying to describe. So he decided to develop his own test to measure four important factors. The factors he chose were Dominance, Influence, Steadiness and Compliance, from which DISC takes its name.  He extensively studied the characteristics, patterns and responses of thousands of people and published his findings in a book, The Emotions of Normal People.  This included a description of the test he had developed.

How valid is it?

The personal profile analysis system has received a Certificate of Registration from the British Psychological Society.  This confirms that it meets all psychometric requirements for use as a psychological tool.
